Loch Rannoch

Loch Rannoch, about 30 miles from Pitlochry in Highland Perthshire, is one of Scotland's most remote, peaceful and beautiful lochs. A little road loops round its shores but goes nowhere else - it is the ideal place to relax and really 'get away from it all'.

Plenty to See and Do

If you do fancy something more energetic the loch is perfect for sailing, kayaking and fishing, while a wide variety of wildlife thrives on its banks - red squirrels, pine marten, deer, buzzards and osprey, to name but a few.

Loch Rannoch

Walkers will enjoy escaping into the surrounding hills and mountains and energetic cyclists can make the tour of the loch. Yet for all its wildness and peace, it is not so far from civilisation and Pitlochry and the main A9 can be reached in under an hour.

Kinloch Rannoch, at the eastern tip of the Loch is a popular centre for walking and cycling. At its western end is lonely Rannoch Moor and the second most remote railway station in Britain, where you can catch the scenic West Highland Line from Glasgow to Fort William.
