The Sutherland Estate
The Dunrobin Cottages are situated in and around the towns of Golspie and Rogart on the Sutherland Estate in the Scottish Highlands. At the heart of the Estate is Dunrobin Castle, the most northerly of Scotland’s great historic houses that has been home to the Earls and Dukes of Sutherland since the 1300s. It is open to visitors from April to the end of October each year and is well worth a visit.
The cottages themselves are scattered amidst some of Scotland’s most extraordinary landscapes and coastlines, providing a genuine escape and a chance to relax and catch one’s breath. Just outside Golspie is Littleferry where Customs House and The Old Granary can be found. Both properties sit directly on the water of Loch Fleet and border the renowned Loch Fleet Nature Reserve where wildlife lovers can expect to spot otters, seals and an array of birds.

A Packed Itinerary of Places to Visit
Golspie boasts its own golf course, however for the more experienced golfers the Royal Dornoch Championship golf course is only a 15 minute drive away. For those looking for a post-round nip, the Glenmorangie Whisky Distillery is only a stone’s throw from there.
For more intrepid explorers, the Highland Wild Cat Mountain Bike Trails has the longest freeride mountain bike descent in the UK and sees visitors from across the country visit to feel the adrenaline rush.
The beautiful coastline of Sutherland has many stunning beaches to walk and explore, including the beautiful Brora Beach that is situated 10 minutes north on the A9. There are also many lovely walks around Golspie itself with the 3km Big Burn Walk up to a waterfall being a particular favourite amongst locals.
The properties are also lucky enough to sit at the start (or finish) of the North Coast 500 driving route so there is the chance to explore one of the world’s most renowned coastlines. Whatever your reason for visiting, this Estate has something for you.
